Lucas McCallum brings a wealth of experience to Gordon & Barry Lawyers, having worked in family law for more than 14 years, in preeminent and specialist family law firms in Sydney, and prior to that, in Canberra.

Lucas appears as an advocate for clients at all stages of family law proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Divisions 1 and 2, in family violence proceedings in NSW Local Courts, in child welfare proceedings in the Children’s Court of NSW and the ACT, and has appeared in the NSW and ACT Supreme Courts in matters involving issues incidental to family issues.

Lucas’ practice has consisted of acting for high-net worth individuals with interests in complex company and trust structures in Australia and overseas, advising on asset protection strategies and succession planning, and has acted for companies and other third parties to litigation. 

Lucas also acts for spouses who do not have the benefit of the control of family wealth following separation or have a limited understanding of the financial arrangements made during their relationship.  

Lucas’ has had consistent experience throughout his career acting for parents working through complex parenting issues involving allegations of risk and family violence or abuse, relocation with children within Australia, and international relocation, including matters involving the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. 

Lucas also regularly prepares Financial Agreements for clients who want the benefit of confidently investing in new and existing relationships.

Lucas takes a strategic and resourceful approach to litigation, balanced against the importance of achieving resolutions that limit the adverse impact of relationship breakdowns on clients, their families, and their children.

Wherever possible, Lucas assists clients to reach agreement through negotiation.
